Scotland- In 1909, Chivas Brothers made distilling history by creating the world’s first luxury Scotch whisky, Chivas Regal 25. Each of the hand-selected whiskies has been matured for a minimum of 25 years. Chivas 25 is bottled only twice a year, with each individually numbered.

The first decade of 20th century America saw Chivas 25 burst onto the scene. Alongside the flittering milieu of grand parties and theatrical attractions of Broadway, this luxury whisky took pride of place among the high society of New York.

But Prohibition followed in 1920, cutting our 25-year-old Scotch whisky’s reign short. In 2007, we reignited this remarkable blend to recreate the iconic tastes and textures that lay within the original luxury whisky. The pinnacle of blended Scotch whisky was reborn and remains a legend today.

Chivas 25 was re-released nearly 100 years later (in 2007), produced in the same style as the original. The blend is comprised of malt and grain whiskies sourced from across Scotland, and contains no whisky younger than 25-years-old.

Chivas Regal 25 Year Old Original is a rare and exclusive blend of the finest Scotch whiskies, available only as a strictly limited release in individually numbered bottles. Rich Gold. Enticing fruity aromas of sweet orange and peach are followed by notes of marzipan and nuts. Taste has hints of rich milk chocolate orange, and a fondant creaminess. Smooth, rounded and luxuriously long finish.

Produced in Strathisla Scotland in the highlands, it was in 1801 when the Chivas brothers open their first shop were they sold gourmet food and drink from around the world to Europe elite. They soon gained a reputation of supplier for good and malt whiskeys. In 1843, James and John Chivas were awards by Queen Victoria to supply goods to the royal house.

It wasn’t until the 1850’s that they saw an opportunity to create a style of whiskey using combining soft grain Whiskey and robust single malts to create balanced and smooth blend scotch whiskies. In 1909 the Chivas brother’s whiskey was in high demand, but then prohibition hit and the whiskey went out of production, making their 25 year old blend become a rare collector’s item. In the 1950’s the 12 year old Chivas Regal blend was introduced to America and won their hearts over night.

Chivas Regal Royal Salute was launched on 2nd June 1953, Coronation Day, as a tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The name of this quality blend comes from the 21 gun salute, which is fired as a mark of respect for powerful dignitaries. This exceptionally rich and complex master blend is aged for 21 years in oak casks before being bottled in porcelain flagons.

In 1997 master blender Colin Scott created the multi award winning new blend; Chivas Regal 18yo gold signature blend. Each whiskey used in this blend has been aged for 18years creating a deep complex and exceptionally rich blend. In 2001 Chivas Regal was bought by the Pernod Ricard group but they kept master blender Colin Scott to keep the quality of the blend and exceptional taste. In 2007 the 25yo blend came back into production.
